Think of a wind swept sea coast, and a flock of sea birds diving and swooping in for their dinner. Sea birds are so much fun to watch. Inspired by a vacation in my youth where i must have spent hours just watching all the bird activity.

Sea birds scarf is painted on habotai silk measuring 11"x60" and is color fast.

The birds are white and beige with bright beaks, flying about in a stormy moody background of shades of blue.

The scarf begins as white silk, with gutta resist in silver. Once the design is drawn on the silk it is stretched onto a frame where paint is applied. Resist acts as boundary to prevent paint from running outside the lines. The painted scarf is then steamed to permanently set the color and fuse the resist to the silk fiber. It is now color fast, and hand washable.
