If Klimt, the Viennese paintor/artist of the last century had a cat I think he would paint it like this. Inspired by his work, especially on the portrait of Adele Bloch Bauer (The Woman in Gold) i drew on the black and gold theme with geometric patterning. This scarf is on habotai silk, measures 60" x 11",
The scarf begins as white silk, with gutta resist in silver. Once the design is drawn on the silk it is stretched onto a frame where paint is applied. Resist acts as boundary to prevent paint from running outside the lines. The painted scarf is then steamed to permanently set the color and fuse the resist to the silk fiber. It is now color fast, and hand washable.
