Art Noveau, the period of 1885-1925 offered rich patterning, and unique interpretation of life. One such artist is a lesser known French artist named G. Darcy. He often was on the cusp of Art Deco with patterns and blending of colors. I fell in love with this pattern and think it makes a rich accent to any outfit.
The scarf is habotai silk which is a lightweight silk. Measurements are 11"x60" and Iceberg features geometric stylized morning glories in a rich cerulean blue, black with beige polka dot pattern on a white background with accent of beige.
The scarf begins as white silk, with gutta resist in silver. Once the design is drawn on the silk it is stretched onto a frame where paint is applied. Resist acts as boundary to prevent paint from running outside the lines. The painted scarf is then steamed to permanently set the color and fuse the resist to the silk fiber. It is now color fast, and hand washable.
