Sping is officially happening when those beautiful yellow flowers of Dandilion come up in the yard. My inspiration for this scarf is a William Morris wallpaper pattern. Painted on habotai silk this scarf measures 11"x60" and features bright yellow blooms on a field of green dandilion leaves. Its a bold pattern that would add color to any outfit.
The scarf begins as white silk, with gutta resist in silver. Once the design is drawn on the silk it is stretched onto a frame where paint is applied. Resist acts as boundary to prevent paint from running outside the lines. The painted scarf is then steamed to permanently set the color and fuse the resist to the silk fiber. It is now color fast, and hand washable.
