Hand Painted Silk Scarf measuring 11" x 60" features a repeating Art Deco pattern in hues of blue and green. The pattern was drawn on white silk using black gutta resist. The resist lines remain a permanent part of the design. After the resist is completed the silk was put on a stretched frame and painted using specific fiber paint. The silk is then steamed to set the color and permanently fuse the resist to the silk fibers. After hand washing the silk is ironed and ready to wear. Colorfast , and hand washable.

The inspiration was an art deco wallpaper pattern popular in the 1930s.

The scarf begins as white silk, with gutta resist in silver. Once the design is drawn on the silk it is stretched onto a frame where paint is applied. Resist acts as boundary to prevent paint from running outside the lines. The painted scarf is then steamed to permanently set the color and fuse the resist to the silk fiber. It is now color fast, and hand washable.
